Hi, I’m Shannon, creator and owner of Queen.Victoria.Roses. I started my page on instagram in 2018 as a way to share my passion and knowledge for all things Queen Victoria related with others. Since then, my content has reached millions of people around the world!
In 2020, I began my fight with a lesser known eating disorder, called ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder). By the beginning of 2021, I knew I needed to focus on getting better so made the difficult decision of stepping away from my instagram page. During that time, my mental health improved, however, I had lost interest in almost everything I had loved before, including Queen.Victoria.Roses. Then, in July 2022, I visited Queen Victorias seaside residence, Osborne House, on the anniversary of Princess Alice’s wedding, which took place it here in 1862. As I walked up the path towards the house, I was immediately overwhelmed by all of the passion I had once felt for history. Later that day, I took to instagram and it was just like returning home. As difficult as 2020/2021 had been, I have it to thank for making me who I am today and for giving me the confidence to achieve the dreams I had once lost.
Although I’m still not fully recovered, I know I’m heading in the right direction and my dream of living on the Isle of Wight and becoming a full time historian seems much more possible than ever before.
Queen.Victoria.Roses isn’t just my passion, but also home to myself and an incredible community. If you’re new to any of my pages, I can guarantee you are appreciated and will always be part of our ever growing community!
– If you or a loved one are struggling with mental health or an eating disorder, please know you aren’t alone and that you will get through it. My inbox is always open to anyone that needs to talk or needs support in getting the right support – Shannon x
