
Queen Victoria famously wore black for forty years following the death of her husband, Prince Albert, in 1861. While many of the Queen’s dresses from this period survive, we are lucky that so many of her earlier garments have also been preserved, giving us an insight into Victoria’s fashion tastes from her earlier, more colourful life!
