Dated 1856, this ink and watercolour sketch by Queen Victoria shows two of the Queen’s daughters, Princesses Louise (left) and Helena (right). Born just two years apart (1846 and 1848 respectively), the two sisters spent most of their childhood in each other’s company. However, their personalities couldn’t have been more different. While both were artistic, Louise enjoyed keeping up with fashion trends and dancing, where as Helena was the tomboy in the family. She enjoyed engineering and was never afraid to fight her brothers.
