“The same dull, grey weather, but not cold. — Service at ¼ to 11, in the house, performed by Mr Prothero, who preached well. — Just before, had a telegram from Arthur, saying, he had sent for the doctor, & all was well. Felt in a state of agitation. Heard to my great joy, after 5, that Louischen [Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia, Duchess of Connaught] had been safely confined with a girl (always girls! my 18th grand-daughter!) Thank God, both are doing well. — The 3 Ladies, Gen: Du Plat, Capt: Bigge, & Mr Sahl, dined. All in the house, pleased at the news. —“
