On 3rd September 1888, Princess Sophia of Prussia, daughter of Princess Victoria and granddaughter of Queen Victoria, became engaged to Constantine, Crown Prince of Greece

“A showery day. — Dear Louis’ last breakfast with us. Little Drino was there, & so funny. He speaks so plain. — Out in the pony chair. — Resting, writing, & signing. — Lunched earlier, & at 2, dear Louis left, to our great regret. — Painting, &c. — Drove with Alicky & Jane C. to Birkhall, where we took tea with Helen, who is staying there. — Had a letter from Vicky about Sophie’s engagement to Tino, Crown Pce of Greece, which she seems to be pleased at, though she says they are both such babies! And she dreads the great distance, & “the East being a powder barrel, the future of Greece & the Dynasty, not being very secure”. She also feels deeply her beloved Husband being no longer there to give his advice help, protection & blessing. The wedding is not to take place, till October of next year. —“

Hello Shannon, who´s Little Drino? I suppose Louis is the Gran Duke of Hesse and Alicky, the Princess of Wales, right?
Hi Patricia, i apologise for the delay in getting back to you. You are correct with Louis being the Grand Duke of Hesse. Alicky was his daughter Alix, who later became Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia. I believe Drino to be Prince Alexander of Battenberg. I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any more questions 😊
Thanks dear!
