“Heard on getting up, from Bertie, that dear Alix had got another little girl this morning. Both were going on quite well. Strange coincidence, as I had settled to go
to Town today. Started at ¼ to 11, with Alice, Louise & Louis, the Dss of Roxburghe & 2 Equerries in attendance. Drove in a closed town carriage to St. James’s Palace, where I visited Aunt Cambridge & saw dear Mary’s nice little girl, who can stand against a
chair, & is a fine child. Also saw Augusta & Fritz Strelitz. From there, drove to Marlborough House, where I found dear Alix with the Baby. Stayed only a moment in the room & afterwards spoke to Mrs Clark & Mrs James. Returned to Windsor at ¼ p. 1. — Dear
Marie Leiningen took leave after luncheon. — Saw Mr Martin. — Took tea in the garden at Frogmore & then drove with Lenchen to the Flemish & Norfolk Farms, where we saw all the beasts going to the Leicester Show. — The Dss of Roxburghe, the Dowr Ly Dunmore, Gen: & Ly E. Seymour, the Dean & Mrs Wellesley & Mr Martin dined. Sat out a little afterwards with the Duchess. —”
